After yesterday’s post about the Apple iPad hype, I started to have a creepy feeling that Steve Jobs reminds me of someone I know. I spent the whole day thinking about it – who could it be? Why does this marketing ploy feel eerily familiar? And then, I figured it out.

In case you haven’t already heard (where have you been?), Apple is making an announcement about their new Tablet today. My best friend will not respond to a text message from a man she is dating. She believes that, if a man really wants to speak to her, he can pick up the phone and call her. What I offered was a community of writers and networking opportunities, the freedom to write about almost anything arts and culture related, my editorial feedback, a customized article layout, and a chance to be published online. I have also written job/school recommendations for many of the writers that have worked with me.

On December 22, 2009, I published a rather angry post about M&M Mars and MyMMs.com, their personalized M&Ms product. Two weeks before Christmas, I ordered personalized M&Ms as a gift for my brother. On December 21st, I was notified that my order was canceled for reasons I didn’t understand.
