Twitter can be TMI, but I appreciate this social networking tool when I’m working on the web or glued to my computer for hours at a time. Updates from those I follow do amuse, inform, and inspire me. I can send a quick question to my followers and, most of the time, I will receive a response within minutes. Tweeters are quick to respond!
If I’ve spent a lot of time oversharing, a lot of people will follow me. How do they find me? I assume they search for key words that I used by accident (ex. a Tweet about my favorite necklace will attract six follows from jewelry vendors).

Rarely, do these new followers seem interesting enough to prompt me to follow them. Sure, the person operating the Twitter account did one thing right: they found me because I was Tweeting about something relevant to their business or service.
Kudos for sort of understanding Twitter! However, your marketing strategy won’t work if I don’t follow you back.
Reasons Why I Won’t Follow You:
1. Your Tweet history demonstrates a series of spam-like, impersonal, boring, or irrelevant comments.
2. Your Bio describes you as some sort of guru (social media gurus are the worst).
3. You follow many people, but few follow you in return.
Reasons Why I Will Follow You:
1. You have taken the time to make your Twitter page visually appealing.
2. Your Tweet history intrigues me.
3. Your Location, Web Address and/or Bio is clear, concise, and UNIQUE.
However, if I do choose to follow you, and you send me a boring, stock Direct Message, I will unfollow you immediately. Twitter member @BirdhouseGuy wrote, “One suggestion would be to advise people not to throw their sales pitch when thanking someone for following them. Big Turnoff.” I agree! Here is a real-life sample offender: “{Hi! thnx 4 the follow. For strategies, tips and tactics that’ll sky-rocket your Internet income and success visit me at www.Webpresario.com}”
Send me a personalized Direct Message, and I may be more likely to warm up to you. Do you have any personal rules about following Tweets?
i like your reasons for following/not following! interesting bc i have been looking at internet sites for promoting metropulse and this definitely gave me some food for thought ^_^
