But I wonder: what did we do before cell phones and the Internet? If someone wanted to date you or be your friend, that person would have to call you on your landline, leave a voicemail if you didn’t answer, and schedule a time and place to meet. Calling a landline meant effort, and scheduling a time to meet meant commitment.
